You move us to delight in praising You!

\"faith\"I hope that you are off to a marvelous Monday morning — the start of the first week of 2016! It is such a blessing to live to see another day as well as another calendar year.
Over the past week, I read back through part of St. Augustine\’s Confessions. St. Augustine of Hippo was a late 4th century- early 5th century bishop of the Early Church. Book 1 of theConfessions of St. Augustine is chock-full of praises to God.
As we begin this year, let\’s ponder these words from Bishop Augustine:

You move us to delight in praising You; for You have formed us for Yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in You. Lord, teach me to know and understand which of these should be first, to call on You, or to praise You….

The bishop reminds us that we are created to praise God. Many times we live restless lives because we worship things, jobs, or people rather than God. May this year be a year of redirected worship.
When we praise God, our hearts find true rest.
When we praise God, we realize how much we need Him.
Also, when we call on God at any point of need, we must praise Him for He is good and worthy to be praise.
To God be the glory!
