If it had not been for the Lord on my side…

\"\"So many things run in and out of our minds each day. It’s easy to get lost in our thoughts and forget what really matters in life. Do you ever stop and think – the very breath we breathe is a blessing?

God has given us life, health (even if we are not feeling well), and strength (even when we are weak).

And, that’s a blessing!

As the old adage goes, “If it had not been for the Lord on our side, where would we be?” The saying was lifted from Psalm 124:

If it had not been the who was on our side—let Israel now say—if it had not been the who was on our side when people rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us; then over us would have gone the raging waters. Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth! We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped! Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Over the course of this week, let\’s think about it together. God has chosen us to be alive at this time in history. Why?

Let\’s be sensitive to the Holy Spirit to know our purpose and to follow God\’s plan.

It is easy to complain about our felt needs. After all, when we are lost in our heads, we most likely think \”needs\” more than \”thanks.\”

The more important questions are these: \”Who does God want me to be?\” And, “What does God want me to do?”

Time is short. We must be about our God\’s business.

Let us recognize the blessing of being chosen!

We are alive with the blessing of divine purpose!

God has a blessed plan. Thank you Jesus!

I will close with an excerpt  from \”God Love Us\” by the rapper, Nas:

…I\’ve been kissed by God
I\’ve been hurt, I\’ve been marked for death, almost ripped apart
By the beast but he missed his mark…
Only reason I\’m here now is \’cause God chose me….
